Kent Test practice at home: what to expect and how to start

What the Kent Test covers, and a simple way to practise at home without turning evenings into a battle.

What the Kent Test covers

The Kent Test is the 11+ test used for Kent grammar schools. Children sit sections in English, maths and reasoning, and most questions are multiple choice.

Dates, registration and how scores are used change from year to year, so check Kent County Council and the grammar schools you are interested in for this year's rules.

How to practise at home

  • Ten to twenty minutes a day beats a long weekend session.
  • Practise one topic at a time first (for example fractions, or spelling), then move on to mixed practice.
  • Read the explanation after every answer, right or wrong. That is where most of the learning happens.
  • Only start timed practice once the topics feel comfortable, so the clock does not add pressure too early.

What PrepAcer gives you for the Kent Test

Kent Test practice is split into English, maths and reasoning, topic by topic, with a short explanation after every answer. There are timed practice mocks in the order of the real sections, and no marks are shown until your child hands in.

All questions are original practice questions written for PrepAcer, not real test papers. A parent sets everything up and your child needs only a username, so there is no email address for them and no ads or tracking.
